Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release
WORCESTER, MA - The New York Yankees have announced that pitcher Domingo Germán will have his Major League rehab assignment transferred to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders today. The right-hander is scheduled to start this afternoon as the RailRiders play the Worcester Red Sox at Polar Park beginning at 4:05 P.M.
Germán has not pitched for New York this season, having been placed on the 60-Day Injured List on March 18 with a right shoulder impingement. His rehab assignment began with an appearance for the Tampa Tarpons on June 22 before he was transferred to the Somerset Patriots for two outings. Between the two levels, Germán has pitched 10.1 innings, surrendering one run on five hits with six strikeouts and no walks.
The 29-year-old made 22 appearances last season, including 18 starts, going 4-5 with a 4.58 ERA, striking out 98 and walking 27 over 98.1 innings pitched. In four years at the Major League level, Germán has a 24-16 career mark with a 4.54 ERA.
The Yankees acquired Germán in 2014 along with Nathan Eovaldi and Garrett Jones in a trade that sent Martin Prado and David Phelps to the Miami Marlins.
Germán is the third player to join Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on a rehab assignment this season, joining Tim Locastro and Aroldis Chapman.
The RailRiders are in Worcester through the weekend and return to PNC Field on Tuesday, July 12, to host the Louisville Bats. For tickets or information on upcoming promotions, visit www.swbrailriders.com.
