Memphis Redbirds News Release
DURHAM, NC - Following a one hour and 40-minute rain delay, the Memphis Redbirds flipped the script to take game five of a six-game series to the Durham Bulls on Friday night at Durham Bulls Athletic Park by a final score of 9-2.
Memphis started off hot, drilling two solo homers in the top of the second inning. First baseman Luken Baker led off the frame with his 15th homer of the season followed by second baseman Cory Spangenberg's ninth blast of the year.
On the night, eight of the nine Redbirds hitters in the order reached base and seven of the nine registered at least one RBI. Baker and designated hitter Alec Burleson registered two RBIs in the seven-run win.
Memphis pitching also dominated. Starter Jake Woodford tossed two scoreless innings, followed by TJ McFarland's third MLB rehab appearance. The left-handed reliever tossed yet another scoreless innings, facing three hitters.
Tommy Parsons earned the win after 4.2 innings of two-run baseball. Parsons six wins lead all Redbirds pitchers and is tied for fifth in the International League.
