Iowa Cubs News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - The Iowa Cubs (37-45) scored 10 runs on 12 hits to take a 3-2 series lead over the Indianapolis Indians (39-42), taking game five by a score of 10-1, Saturday at Victory Field.

Iowa didn't waste any time jumping out to an early lead, scoring two runs in the first and four in the second. Their four-run second came on one swing of the bat from Jackson Frazier who hit a grand slam for his second home run in as many games.

Six runs was all Matt Dermody needed, as the lefty spun his best outing of the year. He threw five scoreless innings allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out a career-high 10 batters. He was followed by Brendon Little who threw two scoreless innings of his own.

Indianapolis finally tapped into their six-run deficit in the eighth on a solo home run from Mason Martin, bringing the score to 6-1. The I-Cubs added four runs of insurance on three ninth-inning singles, growing their lead to 10-1.

With the nine-run lead, former Indian Steven Brault recorded the final three outs of the game to secure the victory for Iowa.

POSTGAME NOTES:

- Both Nick Madrigal and Frank Schwindel started in Major League rehab assignments for Iowa tonight. Madrigal went 0-for-3 with a run scored, a walk and a strikeout and Schwindel went 1-for-4 with three strikeouts.
