Adirondack Thunder News Release

TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: Tonight's matchup is the first of back-to-back matchups and the sixth meeting this season between the Adirondack Thunder and the Norfolk Admirals, Adirondack has come out on top in three of the first five meetings, including a 1-0 victory back on January 12th at the Civic Center, with Peter MacArthur's first period goal proving to be the game winner. After this weekend, the East Division foes will meet just three more times this season, including another back-to-back next month in Norfolk.

KING JAMES: Thunder forward James Henry was named the Thunder's Player of the Week for his efforts in last weekend's games. Henry collected a team high four points (1-3-4) as he led all Thunder scorers during their back-to-back set against Reading. The former Stockton Thunder forward had two assists in Friday night's 3-0 victory and added a goal and an assist on Saturday with a hand in both Adirondack tallies in a narrow 3-2 defeat.

SIMMER DOWN: Netminder Kent Simpson is currently tied for the league lead in shutouts this season. Simpson, who has skated with both the Thunder and the Stockton Heat of the AHL, has stone walled opponents three times in just ten starts with Adirondack this season. He earned his third shutout this past Friday against Reading, as he turned aside all 42 shots he faced. The 6'3" goaltender has recorded a 2.18 goals against average and a .931 save percentage so far this season.

IRON MAN: Michael Kirkpatrick is the only player to appear in all 41 games for the Thunder this season. The rookie forward also leads the team in goals (16) and points (33) and is third in assists (17). Kirkpatrick will be looking to add to those totals this weekend after a two-point game last Saturday (1-1-2). The former Saint John Sea Dog has four points against Norfolk this season (1-3-4), tied with Mitchell Heard for the team lead.

JAKE THE SNAKE: Adirondack acquired goaltender Jacob Deserres this week from the Colorado Eagles. Deserres has appeared in 10 ECHL games this season and has collected two wins, a 2.87 goals against average, a .876 save percentage and his first career shutout, a 19-save effort against Rapid City on October 28. Deserres is making his second career appearance in Glens Falls, after he joined the AHL's Adirondack Flames for a game last season on April 7 against Toronto.

BOUNCE HOUSE: The Thunder are 8-1-2 this season after a regulation loss and will be looking to add to that impressive mark after they dropped their last game on Saturday, 3-2 against Reading. Adirondack has come away with at least a point in their last five contests after a regulation loss, going 4-0-1 dating back to December 31st against the Reading Royals.

OUT SHOT ON TOP: The Thunder have thrived this season when being outshot in games. Adirondack has composed a 15-2-3 record this season when they are outshot by their opponent, good for a .825 winning percentage. The Thunder lead all ECHL teams in this department, the only team over the .750 mark, let along the .800 mark.
