Quad City Mallards News Release

MOLINE, Ill. - Guillaume Gelinas scored twice and Anthony Collins provided what proved to be the game winning goal as the host Quad City Mallards (21-19-5) completed a two-game sweep of the Rapid City Rush (17-23-3) by claiming a 4-2 victory Friday night .

Collins pounced on a rebound to give the Mallards a 3-1 lead at 6:01 of the third period. His goal loomed all the larger when, just after the Rush pulled goaltender Danny Battochio (26 saves) for an extra attacker, Sean Erickison's blue line blast cut the margin to one with 52 seconds left in third. Matt Carey's empty neat goal clinched the win for the Mallards with just four seconds remaining.

The Mallards had entered the third period leading 2-0 after Gelinas struck in each of the first two periods. The Mallards were on the power play when Gelinas scored from the left wing circle at 4:08 of the first period. He doubled the lead with a backhander from the right wing circle at 6:41 of the second period.

Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel's rising blast from the left wing trimmed the gap to 2-1 a mere 52 seconds into the third period, but the Rush's comeback bid would fall short.

The Mallards visit the Fort Wayne Komets tomorrow night. The Mallards next play at home Friday, February 19 at 7:05 p.m. against the Cincinnati Cyclones. February 19 also brings the return of $1 Dog/$1 Beer Night presented by 97X and MetroLINK College Night.
