Adirondack Thunder News Release

TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: Tonight's matchup is the eleventh and final meeting of the season between the Adirondack Thunder and the Elmira Jackals. The Jackals hold a 6-4 advantage to date and a 12-10 advantage in points accrued in head-to-head action. Adirondack has won just four of their past five against Elmira, and their last victory at the Civic Center came back on November 25, a 2-1 win for the Thunder.

FANTASTIC FOUR: The Thunder enter tonight's action with a magic number of four and can clinch a berth in the 2016 Kelly Cup Playoffs with a win over Elmira. The Thunder currently sit in sixth position and would put the Jackals, currently sitting in ninth, out of reach if they earn two points tonight.

HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLFE: Adirondack Thunder forward Greg Wolfe scored four goals over the Thunder's three-in-three set this past weekend, including his first career professional hat trick in Friday's win over the Norfolk Admirals. Wolfe also tallied in Sunday's defeat to Brampton and his four points led all Thunder scorers over their weekend homestand.

MOBILE APP: Netminder Ken Appleby returned to the Thunder last week and put in a terrific weekend as he appeared in all three games. Appleby went 2-0-0 with just two goals allowed on 69 shots, good for a 0.75 goals against average and a .969 save percentage. The New Jersey Devils send down earned victories over both Norfolk and Brampton and allowed just one goal in each contest.

CHECK MARC: Thunder forward Louick Marcotte has led his team this season against Elmira, topping the Adirondack scoring charts with seven points (6-1-7) in nine games played. Marcotte's six goals lead all scorers on both teams in the 10 overall games played on the season. The Quebec native ranks third on the Thunder in goals in all games, with 16 in 54 appearances.

CARRIER A TUNE: The Thunder got additional reinforcements for this evening's game as winger Alex Carrier rejoined the team yesterday afternoon from the Albany Devils of the AHL. Carrier appeared in three games with Albany during his most recent stint, helping the Devils clinch a playoff berth last week. In 44 games with the Thunder this season, Carrier has collected 12 points (4-8-12), a career high, and 94 penalty minutes.

DYNAMIC DUO: Elmira forwards Cason Hohmann (18-36-54) and Allan McPherson (19-28-47) have carried the Jackals offensively this season, with 101 combined points in 100 total games played, along with a +32 rating. The duo has put up 15 points in eight games against Adirondack this season, bolstered by a trio of three-point games. Both players have also skated in the AHL this season with Rochester, with Hohmann recently returning from a three-game stint.
