Martin Wins ECHL-Record 8th Goaltender of the Week Honors

KALAMAZOO, MI- Kalamazoo Wings goaltender Joel Martin has been named as the CCM/ECHL Goaltender of the Week for March 28-April 3, the ECHL announced on Tuesday. It is the eighth time of Martin's career that he has received the weekly honor, setting a new ECHL?record.
The 33-year-old went 3-0-0 with a 1.96 goals-against average and a save percentage of .944 in three wins at Greenville last week.
Martin stopped 43 shots in a 4-3 overtime win on Thursday, made 28 saves in a 5-2 victory on Friday and had 31 saves in a 3-1 win on?Saturday. His win on Saturday was the 156th of his ECHL?career, moving him into fifth place in league history.
A native of Fort Worth, Texas, Martin leads the league with 34 wins this season, and his current total is tied for the 13th most wins in a single-season in ECHL?history, while also leading the league with 61 games played, 3,594 minutes and 1,992 saves.
Martin has appeared in 304 career ECHL games, which is fifth most in league history, with Kalamazoo, Elmira, Augusta, Trenton and Columbus, posting an overall record of 156-110-28 with 12 shutouts, a 2.97 goals-against average and a save percentage of .910.
He has also seen action in 22 career games in the American?Hockey League with Cleveland, Norfolk,?Syracuse and Bridgeport. Â
Martin leads the Kalamazoo Wings against the Brampton Beast on Wednesday, April 7 at the Powerade Centre in Brampton, Ontario. Kalamazoo currently sit in the eighth and final playoff position in the ECHL's Eastern Conference with three games remaining in the regular season.

Box office hours are Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. A $2 discount is applied on all tickets purchased before the date of the game.
