WEEK IN REVIEW - Wichita took two out of three games this past week. David Shantz stopped all 37 shots en route to a 1-0 win on Tuesday night. The Thunder traveled to Rapid City for a pair on Friday and Saturday and split the series. Wichita won 3-1 on Friday and lost 4-2 on Saturday night.
GOOSE EGG - David Shantz posted his eighth career ECHL shutout on Tuesday night and first since 2011. His last ECHL shutout came against Bakersfield on March 2nd, '11 when he was with the Victoria Salmon Kings. It was also the first shutout for the Thunder this season.
LAND OF OZ - Landon Oslanski had a terrific week for the Thunder on the blueline. He recorded the only goal on Tuesday night and followed that up with his 10th power play tally on Friday. The Camrose, Alberta native finished the week with two assists on Saturday against Rapid City. He has a three-game point streak (2g, 3a) and two points in back-to-back games. Oslanski leads the league in power play goals for a defenseman, tied for second in power play points (20) and second in shots for a dman (186).
ECHL HIGHS - Kenton Miller took the team-lead in goals on Friday and then scored another on Saturday night. He needs one more to tie his ECHL-high from last season of 17. His career high as a pro (30) came during his rookie season in 2012-13 when he was with the Missouri Mavericks as a part of the Central Hockey League.
MILESTONES - Several Thunder players are nearing career milestones. Dan Milan is 20 games from playing in his 200th ECHL game. Landon Oslanski is four points away from 100 points in his pro career. Ian Lowe has 185 points in Thunder blue. Michael Neal is three games shy of playing in his 400th ECHL game and six points from 200 as a pro. Kale Kerbashian is eight points shy of 200 in his pro career. Logan Nelson is six games from playing in his 100th game as a pro. Kenton Miller is two shy of 100 ECHL points. Dean Chelios skated in his 100th game as a pro this past Tuesday.
SPECIAL - Since February 28th, Wichita has gone 8-for-41 on the power play, good for a clip of 19.5%. The Thunder have goals in back-to-back games on the man advantage. Wichita's penalty kill is tied for eighth in the league, operating at a clip of 85.2% and has been shorthanded more than any other team in the league (330 times).
THREE'S COMPANY - Wichita closes the season this week with three-straight games against the Tulsa Oilers in the StoneWolf Casino Cup Series. The Thunder are 3-3-1-3 against the Oilers this season and trail 16-10 in points for the crown. Wichita can play the role of spoiler against their long-time rivals. Tulsa is currently five points behind the Quad City Mallards for the eighth and final playoff spot in the West.
THUNDERBOLTS...Landon Oslanski leads the team in shots (186)...Lowe and Andy Huff are tied for 11th in the ECHL in shorthanded goals (2)... Dan Milan leads the team with 126 penalty minutes...Wichita is first in the league in minor penalties (391)...Wichita is 12-1-1-1 when leading after two...Wichita is 11-11-6-6 in one-goal games...
