April 5, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
South Carolina Stingrays News Release
NORTH CHARLESTON, SC- The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 23 seasons in the Lowcountry and proud affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League (NHL), have announced home dates for the opening round of the 2016 Kelly Cup Playoffs. The Stingrays, in pursuit of their fourth Kelly Cup, will play a 3-4 format to open the post-season, with the first game at the North Charleston Coliseum being Game 4 on Thursday, April 21 at 7:05 p.m. The club will also host, if necessary, Games 5, 6 and 7 of the 2016 Kelly Cup Playoffs Eastern Conference Quarterfinals at the North Charleston Coliseum.
The Stingrays home post-season dates for the 2016 Kelly Cup Playoffs Eastern Conference Quarterfinals are as follows:
Game 4-Â Thursday, April 21, 7:05 p.m. at the North Charleston Coliseum
Game 5Â (If Necessary)- Saturday, April 23, 7:05 p.m. at the North Charleston Coliseum
Game 6 (If Necessary)- Sunday, April 24, 7:05 p.m. at the North Charleston Coliseum
Game 7 (If Necessary)- Tuesday, April 26, 7:05 p.m. at the North Charleston Coliseum
The Stingrays, who currently sit as the #2 seed in the Eastern Conference, will start on the road, playing an unconventional 3-4 format to open the playoffs due to building availability. The circus will be in town at the North Charleston Coliseum from April 13-17. The club's opponent, as well as dates and times for Games 1, 2 and 3 will be released later this week.
"It's not uncommon that we have to be creative with our schedule in the playoffs,"Â said Stingrays President Rob Concannon. "Our arena, like many of the other arenas in our league, is a facility that hosts other events like concerts and the circus. Although it's not ideal, we will make the best of the current schedule and hope to see a great crowd on April 21."
