Toledo, OH - Forward Evan Rankin has been named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for the week of March 28-April 3.

Rankin picked up six total goals over three games last week and was a plus 4 in those contests. He picked up a goal and was a plus 3 in Friday night's 5-4 win over Manchester. Saturday night he became the 31st player in ECHL history to score five goals in a game during Toledo's 7-3 win at Cincinnati. The 30-year-old forward already accomplished that feat once before scoring five goals February 18, 2010, at Charlotte.

"Evan's been a consistent contributor all year for us and is great at showing the younger players how to approach the game," said head coach Derek Lalonde. "His skill around the net led to such an amazing performance on Saturday."

Earlier this season, Rankin passed Kyle Rogers to become the Walleye all-time goal scoring leader currently at 83 goals scored in a Toledo uniform. He has been a point per game players this year with the Walleye with 29 points (18G, 11A) in 28 games played. For his Walleye career, Rankin has 159 points (83G, 76A) over 171 contests.

Starting in 2009-10 Rankin has skated in 221 games at the AHL level with 115 points (56G, 59A), including 30 games this year between Lehigh Valley, Utica and St. John's. He joined Rochester in 2012 with 15 goals and 14 assists in 35 games played. The 6'1", 185-pound forward spent all of 2013-14, with the Americans collecting 31 points (14G, 17A) in 48 games. He posted another 30 point season (16G, 14A) the following year while skating in Syracuse.

Prior to turning professional, Rankin spent four years at the University Of Notre Dame. He had 41 points (20G, 21A) in 143 games with the Irish including 19 points (8G, 11A) during his senior season.
