
Beast Add Two More Ahead of Final Game against K-Wings

BRAMPTON, ONTARIO - The Brampton Beast, ECHL affiliate of the St. John's IceCaps and Montreal Canadiens, announce today several transactions ahead of the club's matchup against the Kalamazoo Wings on Wednesday night.
The Beast are proud to announce the signing of former QMJHL standout goaltender Eric Brassard to a Standard Player Contract.
The 20-year-old Longueuil, Quebec native spent the last four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, where he split his time between the Gatineau Olympiques, Charlottetown Islanders, Quebec Remparts and Halifax Mooseheads.
He suited up for a total of 132 QMJHL contests between the 2012-13 and 2015-16 seasons and earned a total of 43 victories and four shutouts.
His best season in the 'Q' was the 2015-16 season, where he appeared in 44 games for the Mooseheads. He compiled a 3.80 goals against average to accompany his .892 save percentage and recorded three shutouts as well as three assists.
The Beast have also signed NCAA graduate Austin McKay to a Standard Player contract.
McKay, a 25-year-old Toronto, Ontario native, completed four seasons with Lake Superior State University in Michigan, where he appeared in 103 NCAA contests between the 2012-13 and 2015-16 seasons.
The big 6'5", 220-pound forward wore the captain's 'C' during his final year in the NCAA in 2015-16, where he scored a pair of goals and added four assists and six penalty minutes in 36 games played.
He scored a total of eight goals and chipped in with five assists and 32 penalty minutes throughout his NCAA career.
The Beast also announce today that defenseman Travis Brown has been reassigned to the American Hockey League's St. John's IceCaps.
Brown, a 22-year-old Winnipeg, Manitoba native, has appeared in 55 games for the Beast this season and was a potent force on the Beast blue line, scoring eight goals and adding 14 assists in his rookie season in the ECHL.
He played in three games already for the IceCaps this season, scoring one goal and recording two penalty minutes.
The Beast return to action on Wednesday, April 6 as they host their North Division rivals, the Kalamazoo Wings, for the final time this season. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:15 PM.
