Adirondack Thunder News Release

TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: Tonight's matchup is the ninth meeting between divisional rivals the Adirondack and Norfolk and concludes a back-to-back set between the teams at the Norfolk Scope. The Admirals evened up the season series at four wins apiece with a 5-3 win last night. Tonight's meeting will mark the Thunder's final game in Virginia and the second to last meeting of the season between the teams.

A PATCH MADE IN HEAVEN: Defenseman Patch Alber is on a roll as of late with assists in each of his past five games, extended with a helper on Gunnar Hughes' power-play goal last night. Alber, who has recorded seven assists during his streak, is second on the Thunder with 23 assists on the season and ranks tenth in the ECHL in assists amongst defensemen.

MARC MY WORDS: Thunder winger Louick Marcotte remained hot with yet another goal, his seventh over his past six games. Marcotte, who has found the back of the net in five of those six games, is second on the Thunder with 15 goals this season and tied for ninth among first-year ECHL players. The QMJHL alum also ranks second on the active roster with four power-play goals.

KIRKPATRICK OF THE TRADE: Michael Kirkpatrick collected yet another assist in last evening's game in Norfolk. The North Sydney, NS native was named as the runner up for the ECHL Rookie of the Month award for February, as he collected 13 points (7-6-13) in 13 games played. Kirkpatrick, who leads all ECHL rookies with 23 goals on the season, also leads the Thunder in all scoring categories including goals, assists, points, power-play goals and power-play points.

POINT OF RETURN: Forwards James Henry and Alex Carrier made their returns to the Thunder lineup after extended stays on reserve. Both forwards played for the first time since early February, with Henry collecting an assist in his return to extend a point streak to two games, dating back to February 6. Carrier collected two shots on goal and two penalty minutes in his first action since February 5.

SOMETHING SPECIAL: Adirondack put in a terrific special teams effort last night as they converted twice on the man advantage and were a perfect 6-for-6 on the penalty kill. The Thunder got power-play goals from Louick Marcotte and Gunnar Hughes, marking the tenth time this season the team has scored multiple power-play goals in a game. The man down unit was perfect for the ninth time in ten games and now ranks third in the ECHL at 86.4 percent on the season.
