March 4, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Toledo Walleye News Release
(Estero, FLA) Jake Paterson picked his second shutout of the season as the Walleye blanked Florida 3-0 on Friday night. Toledo has an overall record of 37-14-2-3 and 15-9-2-2 on the road. Toledo has won seven straight games overall.
A scoreless first period saw each team playing well defensively with Florida finishing the first with 6 shots on goal and Toledo had five. The Walleye did have two great chances as both Shane Berschbach and Evan Rankin each were denied right at the net.
It took a while but the Walleye would grab the first goal of the game at 14:11 of the second period. Shane Berschbach sent the puck on net and Zach Nastasiuk cleaned up the rebound for his ninth goal of the season.
Toledo pushed the lead to 2-0 when Kyle Bonis (6th) wristed in a shot from right in front of the Florida net. Shane Berschbach (23rd) collected an empty net goal at 17:54 to ice the game.
Walleye Notes: Goaltender Jake Paterson picked up his second shutout of the season with 32 saves and his record is 13-8-1-1 on the season. Paterson has won six straight starts.
Walleye Transaction: Toledo has acquired defenseman Mike Slowikowski from the Wheeling Nailers in exchange for future considerations. Slowikowski played in 13 games last year with the Walleye and appeared in 15 games this season with the Nailers with no points. He was a plus six in his games played with Toledo a season ago.
