Last Game

Olivier Archambault's hat trick propelled the host Mallards to a 4-2 victory over the Utah Grizzlies Wednesday night.

Race

With Wednesday night's win the Mallards moved past the Indy Fuel into ninth place in the Western Conference. The Mallards are now four points behind the Tulsa Oilers, who hold the eighth and final playoff berth in the conference. Both the Mallards and Oilers have 18 regular season games remaining.

Home Sweet Home

The Mallards have gone 3-2-0 over the first five games of a seven-game homestand- their longest homestand of the season.

Rapid Fire

Jared Knight- at 1:03- and Archambault- at 1:14- scored shorthanded goals just 11 seconds apart early in Wednesday night's game. Those are the fastest two goals the Mallards have scored this season.

Shorthanded

The Mallards Wednesday night scored two shorthanded goals in the same game for the first time since March 15, 2013 when Matt Boyd and Mickey Lang both scored shorthanded in a 5-3 Central Hockey League win over the Bloomington Blaze. Wednesday also marked the first time the Mallards have scored two shorthanded goals in the same period since Lang and Anthony Perdicaro scored shorthanded in the second period of the Mallards' 4-3 shootout win over the Denver Cutthroats on February 22, 2013.

Finishing Kick

The Mallards have outscored the opposition 53-46 in the third this season. The third is the only period in which the Mallards have outscored their foes. Over the first two periods they have allowed 105 goals while scoring 89 times.

The Mallards have outshot the opposition in seven straight games and have gone 5-2-0 during that stretch.

Between the Pipes

P.J. Musico made 32 saves while earning the win in his Mallard debut Wednesday night. Brody Hoffman backed up Wednesday after starting the Mallards' prior nine games and appearing in 15 of the Mallards' previous 17 games.

Leader of the Pack

Matt Carey has produced 17 points (nine goals and eight assists) in his last 14 games and has scored a team-leading 17 goals this season.

Rook

Matt Neal, who has seven points (one goal and six assists) in his last seven games, not only leads the Mallards in points (37) but also ranks tenth among ECHL rookies in point-scoring. With an assist Wednesday night Neal moved into a tie with Mike Monfredo for the team lead in assists (24).

Arch Madness

Wednesday night's hat trick was the first of Archambault's career and the first by a Mallard since Thomas Frazee scored three times in a 7-3 Central Hockey League win over the St. Charles Chill on March 28, 2014. Archambault has recorded five points (four goals and one assist) in three games since returning from a 14-game injury absence.

Knight Moves

Knight scored Wednesday night in his first game with the Mallards after being reassigned from the American Hockey League's Iowa Wild for the fourth time this season on Tuesday. He has scored three goals and added two assists in a total of six games with the Mallards on the season.

Special Teams

The Mallards have given up eight goals on their opponents' last 17 power plays. They now rank fourteenth in the ECHL in penalty killing (83.9) and are tied for thirteenth on the power play (16.8 percent).

Milestones

Darren McMillan has played three hundred ninety-seven career games for the Mallards.

The Mallards Wednesday acquired forward Jordan Knackstedt from the Greenville Swamp Rabbits in exchange for future considerations...Jared Knight was reassigned to the Mallards by Iowa (AHL) Tuesday...Brady Brassart was recalled by Iowa (AHL) Tuesday...Tanner Eberle (upper body) was placed on 21-day injured reserve retroactive to February 5. He has missed nine games.
