Matchup:
The Solar Bears begin their last homestand of the regular season tonight against Greenville as they prepare for the 2014 ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs, presented by Walgreens. The Solar Bears finished off a three game road trip on Saturday, taking a 3-1 victory over the Wheeling Nailers. Forward C.J. Severyn kicked off the scoring with the lone goal of the first period when he snapped a shot into the top right corner of the net. The 1-0 lead held through the second period, but early in the third the Nailers tied it up when F Sahir Gill stuffed home a puck from the short side post. F Tyler Murovich restored Orlando's lead when he capitalized on a turnover and F Zach Harrison secured the win with an empty net goal late in the third as the Solar Bears took the 3-1 win. The Road Warriors were in action for a pair of games last weekend, falling 7-3 to Gwinnett on Friday and then taking a 4-3 victory over the Gladiators on Saturday. Greenville hosted the South Carolina Stingrays on Tuesday night, earning a point in a 3-2 shootout loss. South Carolina grabbed a 2-0 lead with a pair of goals before the halfway point of the second period, but before the end of the second stanza, Greenville knotted the game at 2-2. Neither side struck in the third period or overtime, and a lone Stingrays shootout goal was enough to grant them the shootout win over Greenville. Orlando is 4-2-0 against Greenville this season.
