Reign's Register Named All-ECHL First Team Defenseman

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, four-time Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets, announced that Reign defenseman Matt Register has been named to the 2014 All-ECHL First Team.

Register, 24, was second among all ECHL defensemen with 44 points (14g, 30a). Three of those points were game-winning goals for the Reign, putting Register in a tie for fifth among defensemen in that category. The 6-foot-2 blueliner led the Reign with a +22 through 66 games played.

This is Register's second season with the Reign. The Calgary, Alberta native joined the team last season to finish his rookie campaign. He earned 13 points (4g, 9a) in 17 regular season games, and three assists in in 10 playoff games.

The All-ECHL First Team roster:

G - Jeff Jakaitis, South Carolina Stingrays (40 gp, 24-12-3, 2.16 GAA, .924 save pct.)

D - Sam Ftorek, Kalamazoo Wings (68 gp, 13g, 34a, 47 pts., +5)

D - Matt Register, Ontario Reign (66 gp, 14g, 30a, 44 pts., +22)

F - Mickey Lang, Orlando Solar Bears (58 gp, 44g, 31a, 75 pts., +6)

F - Brandon Marino, Fort Wayne Komets (70 gp, 29g, 57a, 86 pts., Even)

F - Peter Sivak, Alaska Aces (65 gp, 29g, 50a, 79 pts., +46)

Reign Drops:

The Ontario Reign will play their final game of the season on Saturday, Apr. 12 for Fan Appreciation Night hosted by Toyota. During this night the season-long Chuck-a-Puck promotion will come to a close with one lucky fan driving home in a brand new Toyota Tacoma truck.
