TONIGHT:
The Ontario Reign (32-17-4-5) play their first of a back-to-back weekend series against the Utah Grizzlies (30-22-5-3). Utah holds a one-point lead in head-to-head competition this season. The Reign recently took three of a possible six points during a three-game road trip to Utah in the past week. This home series against the Grizzlies marks the final times Ontario faces Utah in regular season ECHL play.
INSTANT CHEMISTRY FOR NEW ADDITIONS:
After acquiring forwards Garry Nunn and Josh Brittain through trades with Gwinnett and Missouri respectively on Wednesday, Jason Christie put the pair on a line centered by David Rutherford, and the results were instant: the trio combined for three goals and four assists that same night against Stockton.
REIGN CONTROLLING PUCK POSSESSION AGAINST GRIZZLIES:
Through nine matches this season against the Grizzlies, the Reign have averaged 30.22 shots on goal per game, compared to 25.44 shots against per game. Both averages are better than their total performance throughout the season (28.17 shots for; 29.67 shots against). In the previous three matches, Ontario has averaged 35 shots per game, while only surrendering 26 shots against per game.
OLKINUORA POISED TO PASS BERUBE:
With 32 career wins in a Reign uniform, Jussi Olkinuora's next victory will give him sole possession of second place of the club's most career wins record, past current Manchester Monarchs goaltender J.F. Berube.
