TONIGHT:
The Ontario Reign (30-16-3-5) travel to West Valley City to take on the Utah Grizzlies (27-21-5-3) in the first of a three-game road series. Each team has an identical 3-2-0-1 record in head-to-head competition this season. This is the final time during the regular season that Ontario faces Utah in the ECHL.
REIGN LOOK TO BUCK SHUTOUT TREND:
Tuesday's shutout loss to the Alaska Aces represented the fourth time this season that the Reign had failed to score a goal. In the three previous instances where Ontario was shutout, the team followed up that performance with another loss. The Reign will look to bounce back in a big way tonight, with Utah sitting six points back of Ontario. The Reign however, also have the advantage of two games in hand over the Grizzlies.
REGISTER LEADS HEAD-TO-HEAD:
Defenseman Matt Register leads the Reign in points against the Grizzlies this season with five points (2g-3a) in six games, and has recorded three goals over his previous six contests.
SPECIAL TEAMS FRUSTRATIONS:
Since Ontario's Feb. 22 game against the Colorado Eagles, the Reign have gone a perfect 17-for-17 on the penalty kill. However, the club has also gone 0-for-13 with the man advantage in that same span. In spite of that drop in production on the power-play, Ontario still is operating at 17.4 percent rate.
