Cyclones Announce Inaugural Sock Toss to Benefit Military Personnel
March 6, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
CINCINNATI, OHIO - The Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL's Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, are proud to announce a unique promotion for their Saturday, March 14 with the inaugural Cyclones Sock Toss. This promotion is in conjunction with Superhero Night as the Cyclones look to support our everyday superheroes - the military.
In partnership with the Yellow Ribbon Support Center, the Cyclones will be collecting white cotton socks for deployed military personnel. The Cyclones ask that after the first Cyclones goal, fans toss new/packaged white cotton socks onto the ice. The collected socks will be sent overseas by the Yellow Ribbon Support Center to our deployed military personnel. The Yellow Ribbon Support Center is a Cincinnati based non-profit organization that has sent over 21,000 packages to our troops serving in harms way since August, 2004.
Based on the annual Teddy Bear Toss promotion, the Cyclones Sock Toss was born from a simple suggestion from a Cyclones Season Ticket Holder.Taking the concept of an existing fan favorite event and applying it to a need that can help our military "feet on the ground" made for an easy decision to do the promotion.
"We are excited for the inaugural Cyclones Sock Toss on Saturday, March 14" said Cyclones General Manager Kristin Ropp. "The Cyclones continue to be an active participant in the community and with the help of the Yellow Ribbon Support Center we will be able to assist deployed troops with the simplest of gestures. We encourage everyone attending the March 14 game to bring as many packages of socks as they can."
In addition, the Saturday March 14 game is Superhero Night featuring specialty superhero jerseys and appearances from Spiderman, Captain America, Thor, and IronMan.
The Cyclones will be return to U.S. Bank Arena on Friday, March 13 when they welcome in the Orlando Solar Bears at 7:30pm! The first 2,500 fans through the gates will receive a Cyclones Bobblehead featuring Twister! Call 513.421.PUCK to secure your seats and for more details. Fans can also get the latest team updates throughout the season on Facebook, Twitter (@CincyCyclones), and Instagram!
