March 6, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Florida Everblades News Release
GREENVILLE, SC -- Jordan Henry's goal at 12:13 of the third period lifted the Florida Everblades to a 5-4 victory over the Greenville Road Warriors at the Bons Secours Wellness Arena Friday night.
The Road Warriors stormed out of the gates early in the contest and claimed the first lead of the game at the 2:11 mark. Domenic Alberga picked up a rebound from a shot on the left wing side, and shoveled it into the net for the game's first goal.
Florida evened the score at 1-1 at 16:36 of opening period, when Mike Little picked up the puck during a wild scramble in the slot. Little delivered the puck on a wrist shot from the left hash that clipped past the blocker of Greenville goaltender Jason Missiaen for the goal.
Both teams combined for 32 shots in the first period (16 each), and remained tied after the first 20 minutes.
The Everblades took the lead early in the second on the power play. Brant Harris netted his 14th of the season at 1:46 of the period to give Florida the 2-1 advantage.
Greenville countered on their first shot of the period at 8:04, when Vinny Saponari angled the puck toward the side of the net which hit off a stick and flipped up in the air. The puck hit goaltender Andy Iles in the back, and banked into the net for the tying goal.
Florida reclaimed the lead just 24 seconds later when Jordan Henry delivered a pass to Jason Wilson just above the top of the crease. Wilson slid the puck through the five-hold of Missiaen for the tally.
Six minutes later, Greenville tied the game up at three when Bretton Cameron buried a rebound from a Scott Arnold shot from the left wing circle.
The Everblades grabbed the lead back in the final minute of the middle frame. Bobby Preece cradled the puck at the blue line and flexed a shot toward the net. Forward Steven Whitney tipped and redirected Precce's shot into the net for the goal to put the 'Blades on top 4-3 after two periods.
The see-saw battle continued in the third, when Greenville knotted the game at four on the power play. Chris McCarthy wedged a backhanded shot into the top shelf of the net over an outstretched Iles for the goal.
The Everblades took their fourth lead of the game at 12:13 of the third on a slam dunk style play. Mitch Wahl steered the puck across to Adam Brace on the right wing side. Brace stopped, then slid the puck back across to Henry who shoved the puck behind Missiaen into the wide open net. Henry's fifth goal in the last seven games lifted the Everblades to the 5-4 victory.
The Everblades (35-13-2-4, 76 pts) outshot Greenville 50-29, and limited the Road Warriors to just 13 shot sin the final two periods. Isles earns the win stopping 25 of 29 shots, while Missiaen takes the loss allowing five goals on 50 shots faced.
The two teams will meet again on Saturday in Greenville at 7:00 p.m.
