Last Time vs. Idaho

The Steelheads started the game on Wednesday with two power play goals including one from former Thunder defenseman Shawn Boutin, before Tyler Shattock scored on the power play with .8 seconds remaining in the first.

However Idaho scored three second period goals and added two in the third with Shattock only adding one more Thunder goal on the power play in a 2-7 loss.

Cody Reichard (more on him in a moment) was fantastic in the contest, stopping 51 shots in the game.

Tonight

The Thunder look to bounce back after a loss on Wednesday against the Steelheads tonight from Century Link Arena. The Thunder got two goals from Tyler Shattock on the power play but were unable to get past the Idaho defense and Henri Kiviaho.

Who to Watch

It's not a "who" but which position to watch tonight!

With the defense missing two key components after Austin Levi received the call-up and Keith Seabrook traded in an AHL deal, it's up to a shorthanded unit to hold off a very good offense on the other side of the ice.

Since being paired together, it looks like Loic Leduc and Mario Larocque are beginning to blossom as a solid pairing and certainly their communication on the ice has been improved since being paired together as both defenseman could communicate with English or French.

Brad Stebner comes back after a few weeks to tend to his newborn and slotted really well with Levi. Now that Levi is gone Adam Phillips heads back to the blueline to complete the pair. Stebner used his speed on Wednesday to get up and join the rush while Phillips has begun to uncork that cannon of his. It's only a matter of time before the offense begins to fall for these two.

Last but certainly not least is John Ryder who continues to be a solid defensive d-man for the Thunder. However he's starting to play with a little more confidence in his offensive game, which may be a tad underrated. While he isn't the puck mover that Seabrook was, Ryder has established a new career high in goals while playing a physical and solid game in his own end.

All-Time Watch

The scoring situation between Garet Hunt, Ryan Constant and Mike Lalonde is in danger of falling to one of the Thunder's star players very soon.

Lalonde's 156 career Thunder points is in jeopardy as Garet Hunt pulled within a point of the tying the record with 155 while Ryan Constant sits right behind him at 151.

Both Hunt and Constant have missed time due to injuries this season as Hunt missed 11 games while Constant was placed on Injured Reserve on December 14.

Hunt is the only one close to Lalonde's all-time record of 72 goals with his 61 markers, putting the Thunder captain 11 shy of tying the record.

Reichard's Busy Night in Net

Cody Reichard stopped 51 of 58 shots on Wednesday, the most saves made this season on the most shots allowed this season, which was 58. The most saves ever made by a Thunder goalie was 56 made by Jake Moreland against the Fresno Falcons back on February 18, 2006.

Interesting Fact

Tyler Shattock has a three game goal streak where the forward has scored 4 goals in that stretch. It's his longest goal streak of the season.
