TONIGHT:
The Ontario Reign (16-10-2-4) play the second of a two-game set on the road against the Stockton Thunder (13-18-0-1). This is the fourth meeting of the season between the two clubs, with Ontario taking both games against Stockton in the month of November and Tuesday's match. This game is also the final time the Reign play the Thunder in the regular season at Stockton Arena, as all remaining games this season will be played in Ontario.
COUTURE INCHING CLOSER TO HISTORY:
Reign captain Derek Couture's empty-net goal on Tuesday gave him 81 career goals in an Ontario uniform; he is now three goals away from setting the new club record, currently held by Kyle Kraemer (83). His assist last Saturday also gives him 89 career helpers with the Reign; he is two away from passing former captain David Walker (90) for second all-time on the club's assist list.
SPREAD THE WEALTH:
Judd Blackwater's two goals on Tuesday gives the Reign three players to have hit double digits in goals. Blackwater and Kitsyn have scored 11 times, while Couture has 12 on the season. The only Pacific Division club with more double-digit goal scorers is Idaho, with four.
SECOND PERIOD SIZZLE:
No team in the Pacific Division has scored more goals (43) or surrendered fewer (24) than Ontario. Judd Blackwater's pair in the middle frame on Tuesday improved the Reign's differential to +19 in the second period. The team also has good possession stats as well, boasting a 309 shots-for/283 shots-against differential in the second period.
