Slappy New Year
The K-Wings will host the Cincinnati Cyclones tonight during the 13th Annual New Year's Eve Bash. Kalamazoo is 7-3-0-2 all-time in the yearly classic and is 4-1-0-0 since joining the ECHL, which includes four straight victories.
Six Pack
Forward Curtis Valk will enter the week on a six-game point streak. The six-game streak by Valk is the longest current streak by a K-Wings player and is two games shy of the season-long streak of eight games also held by Valk.
Nearing the Century Mark
Forward Matt Caria is closing in on a personal milestone. With his first shift of the game, Caria will be playing in his 100th career game.
Workhorse
Goaltender Joel Martin has appeared in 20 out of 26 games this season. Martin has logged 1,156 out of the teams 1,562 minutes on the ice.
Good After One When the Cyclones lead after the first period they have been tough to beat. Cincinnati is a perfect 4-0-0-0 when they are leading at the start of the second period.
Eight is Enough
Cincinnati's David Pacan hasn't had trouble scoring on the road. The former K-Wings forward has earned points in eight straight games away from the U.S. Bank Arena.
Thinking Positively
Defenseman Shayne Taker has had a positive influence on the Cyclones blue line. With a rating of +11, Taker ranks fourth among all ECHL rookies in plus/minus.
Brittain Receives League Honors On Tuesday, Cyclone goaltender Sam Brittain was named the CCM/ECHL Goaltender of the Week. In his lone appearance between the pipes, Brittain stopped 31 shots in Cincinnati's 2-1 victory over the Indy Fuel last Saturday.
