Mosher, Mallards Blank Evansville 3-0

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (December 31, 2014) - Rookie Evan Mosher made 26 saves on the way to his first career shutout as the Quad City Mallards defeated t he host Evansville IceMen 3-0 Wednesday night . With their second straight win the Mallards (16-10-5) held onto sole possession of second place in the ECHL's Central Division.

Logan Nelson's drive from the high slot opened the scoring at 4:54 of the first period.

The Mallards protected the 1-0 lead until Mike Monfredo scored from the top of the left wing circle at 8:41 of the third period.

Jeff Lee's empty net goal capped off the Mallards' victory with two and a half minutes remaining.

Mosher was at his busiest in closing out the IceMen with 11 third period saves.

The Mallards earlier Wednesday signed Chris Crook as an emergency back-up goaltender. Crook, 31, was signed after Larkin Saalfrank, who served as the Mallards' emergency back-up in Quad City's win at Fort Wayne Monday, was released.

The Mallards next play at home Friday evening at 7:05 p.m. against the Missouri Mavericks. Friday also brings the return of $1 Dog/$1 Beer Night presented by 97X and MetroLINK. Fans can enjoy $1 hot dogs and beers from iWireless Center concession stands during all Friday home games. 97X will follow in the spirit of the evening by presenting hot dog-themed intermission entertainment.

The box office is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and game days from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the second period.
