KALAMAZOO, Michigan - Five different players found the net for the Cincinnati Cyclones (13-11-0-4) as they trounced the Kalamazoo Wings (10-15-1-1) by a 5-2 final score in front of 3,563 at Wings Stadium on New Years Eve.

The Cyclones opened the scoring in one of the weirdest ways possible at the 8:55 mark of the first period; on a face-off play in the Wings zone, Kalamazoo's Eric Kattelus swept the puck off the draw into his own net, past Joel Martin (L, 12 saves, 9-8-1-1) to make it 1-0 Cincinnati. David Pacan was credited with the goal, as he was the centerman who opposed Katteuls in the circle. Then, just before the break, Zach Budish buried a rebound after a strong shot from David MacDonald was kicked out in front - giving the visiting team a two-goal edge through 20 minutes.

Just 3:27 into the middle period, defenseman Chris Reed blasted in his second goal of the season from the right point after catching a pass from Christiaan Minella to make it a 3-0 game. It was the first time that the former Ohio State Buckeye reached the two-goal plateau in a campaign. That tally would spell the end of Martin's night in net for Kalamazoo, as he was replaced by Scott Munroe (ND, 14 saves, 1-0-0). Similar to the opening stanza, the Cyclones were able to find the net in the final minute. As the seconds wound down, Josh McFadden backhanded home his third goal of the season on a late power play to give his team a 4-0 cushion. At the other end of the ice, Sam Brittan (W, 29 saves, 6-4-0-1) remained calm and composed, keeping the Wings off the scoreboard through two periods.

Kalamzoo finally lit the lamp at the 7:46 mark of the third period when Sacha Guimond fired in a point shot during one of his team's three power plays on the night, cutting the deficit to 5-1. They would add one more with five seconds remaining when Matt Caria finished off a two-on-one rush with his sixth goal of the year to make it a 5-2 game - which was the final score.
