Everblades Slip Past Stingrays 2-0

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays (16-11-1-4) fell to the Florida Everblades (22-4-0-1) 2-0 at the North Charleston Coliseum Wednesday night, snapping an eight-game point streak.

Everblades forward Evan Bloodoff broke the scoreless tie 5:06 into the second period catching a stretch pass from forward Mike Aviani for a breakaway of Stingrays netminder Jeff Jakaits (L, 20 saves on 21 shots).

The Stingrays came close to trying the contest several times in the third period including shots off the posts behind Everblades goaltender Andy Iles (W, 28 saves on 28 shots) from forwards Wayne Simpson and Patrick Gaul. Forward Jeff Costello sealed the victory on an empty-net tally with 51 seconds remaining in the game. The Stingrays finished the contest 0-for-6 on the power play while the Everblades went 0-for-6.

The Stingrays begin a three-game road trip on Thursday, January 8 against the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:00 p.m. at The Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Georgia and return to the North Charleston Coliseum for a three-game in three-day home weekend starting Friday, January 16 against the Toledo Walleye at 7:05 p.m. Grab a Friday Family Four Pack including four tickets to the game, four hotdogs, four sodas and large popcorn for $55!
