Reno Aces News Release

Tonight's Game: The Aces will go for a series sweep with right-hander Ben Lively making his Aces debut tonight. Lively was traded to Arizona earlier this month for cash considerations. The Central Florida alum was 4-1 with a 4.07 ERA this season with Triple-A Omaha prior to being acquired. The Bees will counter will lefty Patrick Sandoval. Sandoval comes into the contest sporting a 3-3 record with a 6.95 ERA. He lost his last start to Fresno on 6/22 allowing eight earned runs in 4.1 innings of work. A win for the Aces would match the season high for wins in a row and be the second sweep of the season for the club (Last: 6/4-6/6 vs. NAS).

Get to Know Ben Lively: Lively was drafted in the fourth round in the 2013 draft by the Cincinnati Reds out of the University of Central Florida. He was traded to Philadelphia for outfielder Marlon Byrd in December of 2014. Lively entered the 2017 season as the Phillies No. 18 prospect by Baseball America after winning the Phillies Minor League Pitcher of the Year award from the organization in 2016. The righty went 18-5 with a 2.69 ERA in both Double-A and Triple-A that season. He made his Major League debut on 6/03/17 against the San Francisco Giants earning a victory tossing seven innings while giving up just one run on four hits. He owns a 4-10 record with a 4.80 ERA over 120 innings in the big leagues with the Phillies and Kansas City Royals.

Congrats, AY: Lefty Alex Young earned his first Major League win last night against the San Francisco Giants throwing five innings allowing just one run on three hits to go with five strikeouts. Young is the third Ace this season to earn his first big league win in 2019 along with right-handers Taylor Clarke and Jon Duplantier.

Congrats, Ketel: Diamondbacks second baseman, Ketel Marte, was named a starter yesterday for the 2019 National League All Star team. He captured 39.2% of the fan vote outlasting ATL Ozzie Albies (34.3%) and MIL Mike Moustakas (26.5%). Marte is the first Diamondback to be named an All-Star starter since Paul Goldschmidt accomplished the feat in 2015 and the first second baseman to start the game for the franchise since Jay Bell in 1999. Marte is one of 11 players in the Major Leagues this season to have at least 20 or more home runs, 50 or more RBIs, and 50 or more runs scored. Some of the others on that list? Mike Trout, Christian Yelich, and Cody Bellinger. Marte appeared in 70 games for the Aces in 2017 batting .338 with six home runs, 41 RBIs, 62 runs, 23 doubles, seven triples, and a .391 OBP.

June 27, Cron's Day: Kevin Cron went 2-for-5 with a home run, four RBIs, and three runs scored in yesterday's ballgame. In 2018, he went 3-for-5 with three home runs, seven RBIs, and three runs scored. In 2016 for Double-A Mobile, he went 1-for-4 with a Grand Slam. In 2015 for High-A Visalia, he was 1-for-5 with a double and a run scored. Since 2015, Cron is 7-for-19 on June 27 with five home runs, 15 RBIs, and eight runs scored.
