Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
Iowa starting pitcher Colin Rea scattered three hits over seven strong innings of work while the Cubs collected six runs in the sixth inning as part of a 9-0 shutout win over the Omaha Storm Chasers on Friday night at Principal Park.
Rea (7.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 2 K) earned his ninth win, retiring each of the final nine batters he faced. Right-hander Duane Underwood Jr. (2.0 IP, 2 H) tossed the final two scoreless frames to complete the shutout. Omaha southpaw Foster Griffin (5.0 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 4 BB, 3 K) suffered the defeat.
After two early scores, including a third-inning RBI double from SS Dixon Machado , Iowa broke out with a six-run sixth frame highlighted by a run-scoring knock from C Francisco Arcia and RF Mark Zagunis ' two-run single to right. Machado made it a nine-run margin one inning later with his second run-scoring knock of the contest.

LF Kelvin Gutierrez (2-4) and LF Elier Hernandez (2-3) each posted multi-hit efforts in the defeat for Omaha. The defeat marked the Storm Chasers' seventh straight road defeat, their longest such skid since 2017.
