ABOUT THE FIRST HALF: The Indians entered the All-Star break on a season-high four-game losing skid and series-finale postponement. The Indians finished the first half of the season in eighth place of the International League West division with a record of 41-46, 12.0 games back of first-place Nashville. It is the first time that the Indians have entered an All-Star break with a losing record since going 41-49 at the break in 2009, with the 2021 season excluded as there was no break for the MLB All-Star game. During the first half of the season, the Indians played the least amount of games in all of Triple-A thanks to three postponements that will be made up in the second half. Listed below are the team's stats prior to the All-Star break and where they rank in the 20-team International League.

ONE SHY: Mason Martin is currently one home run shy of 100 career home runs. The slugger has launched 14 home runs this season and two this month. He has double-digit home runs in each of his five professional seasons and his career-high most home runs in a season came in 2019 when he hit 35 with Single-A Greensboro (23) and High-A Bradenton (12).
MARCHING OVER ST. PAUL: The Indians welcome St. Paul to Victory Field for the second time this season with a 5-7 record against the International League West foe. MR. RELIABLE: Bligh Madris is hitting .353 (6-for-17) during an active five-game hitting streak, his fifth stretch this season with at least one hit in five-or-more consecutive games. His longest hitting streak of the season was nine games (6/1-11). The lefty slugger has hit safely in 38 of his 54 games played this season, good for a .301 batting average (55-for-183). He has picked up right where he left off with Indy after spending a month in Pittsburgh and making his MLB debut. Madris has hits in five of seven games with Indy this month - including two multi-hit games. Prior to having his contract selected on 6/20, he had eight multi-hit performances in 16 June games.
TODAY: The Indians will look to snap a four-game losing streak as they kick off their first series post All-Star break with a three-game set against the St. Paul Saints. The two squads will meet for the third time this season and the first time at Victory Field. They first met at CHS Field on April 12-17 and then May 24-29, the Saints lead the season series 7-5. Southpaw Zach Matson will take the bump for the Indians in his 15th appearance and seventh start. This will be Matson's first appearance against St. Paul. St. Paul will counter with right-hander Ronny Henriquez who will make his 15th appearance and 11th start of the season for the Saints. Henriquez is 1-4 with a 6.19 ERA (39er/56.2ip) with 61 punchouts. The righty has one career start against Indy on May 28, and tossed 4.2 innings and surrendered five runs on seven hits.
MAGNIFICENT MATSON: Zach Matson extended his scoreless streak to 7.2 innings after posting a zero in his 1.0 inning of work last Saturday night. This is his longest scoreless streak since he threw 10.2 scoreless innings with Double-A Altoona (4/26-5/22) prior to being promoted to Triple-A. In his first eight appearances (three starts) with Indy, he was 0-1 with a 7.94 ERA (10er/11.1ip) with 14 hits allowed, seven walks and seven strikeouts. Since June 29, he owns a 0.00 ERA (0er/7.2ip) in six appearances (three starts) with three hits allowed, three walks and four strikeouts. During this stretch, he has lowered his season ERA with Indy from 7.94 to 4.74 and his WHIP from 1.85 to 1.42.
THIS DATE IN 1989: RF Larry Walker carried the Indy offense in Omaha, going 1-for-3 with a home run, two RBI, three runs scored and two stolen bases in a 6-5 win. The dinger was his eighth of the season and his two stolen bases upped his season total to 33 thefts. Walker led the Indians with 36 stolen bases and tied with Jeff Huson for the team lead in walks with 50.
