September 12, 2002 - ECHL (ECHL)
Richmond Renegades News Release

Richmond, VA – The Richmond Renegades traded second year center Jerry Gernander to the Baton Rouge Kingfish in exchange for the rights to defenseman Mark Thompson.

Gernander had six goals and 15 points in 57 games with the ‘Gades last season. Thompson, a three year pro, had three goals, 11 points, and 86 PIM while splitting last season between Greenville and Baton Rouge.

"When we looked at our depth up the middle we weren't sure where Jerry fit in," said ‘Gades Head Coach Gord Dineen. "Everyone speaks highly of his work ethic and character. We wanted to put him in a situation where he could play in the ECHL," Dineen added.

The ‘Gades open the 2002-'03 season Friday, October 11 at Trenton. Richmond opens at home on Friday, October 18 vs. Charlotte. Season tickets are now on sale for the Renegades 2002-'03 season. For more information please call the Renegades office at 643-7825.
