Augusta Lynx News Release

AUGUSTA, GA— The Augusta Lynx announced today that they have acquired the rights to Jason Baird from the Toledo Storm in exchange for the rights to forward Wes Mason. The 6'0, 190 pound Baird is coming off a rookie season that saw him score 39 points on 18 goals and 21 assists, while adding 160 penalty minutes. Hailing from Cayuga, Ontario, Baird played four seasons of junior hockey with the Erie Otters in the OHL. During his time in Erie he was able to notch more than 20 goals in three of the four season he played there, including 30 goals and 88 points and 237 penalty minutes in his final year of Junior.

Last season, Baird led all rookies in scoring for the Cincinnati Cyclones and finished fifth on the team in points, and second on the team in penalty minutes. "Jason will add both grit and finish to our offense and is the type of player that exemplifies Lynx hockey. I scouted him two years ago in Junior and I liked him then, so we are very pleased to have Jason in a Lynx sweater." Said Lynx coach Jim Burton.
