Knopp Agree with Men O\' War

Lexington, KY- Lexington Men O' War General Manager / Head Coach Jim Wiley today announced defenseman Kevin Knopp (KA-NOPP) has reached an agreement for the upcoming 2002-03 season. Terms of the agreement are undisclosed. Knopp brings the Men O' War roster total to five players with more agreements to be announced in the near future.

Knopp was acquired by the Men O' war in a trade with the Cincinnati Cyclones on August 28th. Last season, he posted three goals, 21 assists, 24 points and 30 penalty minutes. The blueliner also spent six games with the Greensboro Generals notching one assist. The veteran defenseman has played 417 professional games including 396 at the East Coast Hockey League level. Knopp has 56 career goals and 165 assists, to go along with 569 career penalty minutes. The 32-year-old's best season came during the 1996-97 campaign with the South Carolina Stingrays. He posted 51 points (10 G- 41 A) in 65 games while helping the Rays capture the ECHL's Kelly Cup.

"Kevin is a veteran player who we expect to be a leader on and off the ice. He is very familiar with the league and we expect his knowledge of this league to be a big boost for our hockey club," said Wiley.

The Lexington Men O' War open their inaugural season at Rupp Arena on Friday, October 11th against the Greensboro Generals. Season ticket and advertising for the 2002-2003 inaugural season are on sale at the Men O' War office. For more information call the front office at (859)-455-9900.
