RiverBlades to Play Preseason Contests in Idaho

The Arkansas RiverBlades will play the first ever game between an East Coast Hockey League team and a team from the West Coast Hockey League, when the Blades travel to Boise, Idaho to take on the Idaho Steelheads for two exhibition games on October 3rd and 5th, 2002.
Coming on the heels of Tuesday's historic announcement of the ECHL expanding to 40 teams by the year 2004, Arkansas will be the first team to size up the new competition.
"This is going to be a great trip for a number of reasons" General Manager/Head Coach Cichocki says, "The road trip gives us a chance to bond as a team and get to know each other before the regular season begins." "We also know these contests will be more intense that the usual pre season games because we will be representing the ECHL and Idaho will carry the banner for the WCHL. There will be both pride and jobs on the line for many of the players."
The RiverBlades open the 2002-03 regular season on Saturday, October 12, hosting the Louisiana IceGators at 7:05 PM. Ticket information is available by calling the RiverBlades office at (501) 975-2327.
