Fresno Grizzlies News Release

FRESNO, Calif. - Four lead changes highlighted Sunday night's game that included a total of 17 runs, 24 hits and six errors. Through it all, it was the Omaha Storm Chasers (40-31) defeating the Fresno Grizzlies (36-36) 10-7 in front of 5,603 fans at Chukchansi Park to secure the series sweep. It was the first time Fresno has been swept since August 21-24, 2013 at Las Vegas and also marked the first time Omaha has swept Fresno at Chukchansi Park since June 17-20, 2003.

Adam Duvall returned from strep throat that kept him out of last night's doubleheader to clobber a two-run homer in the first, breaking a 1-1 tie. It was his 21st homer of the season and fourth in his last nine games. He has now homered against every Pacific Coast League team he has faced this year.

Unfortunately, starter Mike Kickham (ND; 3 ER/1.2 IP) couldn't hold the lead nor make it out of the second inning. After allowing a run to cross in the first, he fully unraveled in the second by giving up five runs. The six total runs allowed were enough for manager Bob Mariano to yank him with two outs in the second for reliever Jorge Bucardo (3 ER/2.2 IP), who was activated to the 25-man roster 15 minutes prior to first pitch.

The Fresno offense answered back with a three-run second to tie the game at six. Gary Brown roped a two-run double just inside the right field line, while Joe Panik plated the third run of the inning with a RBI ground out.

Darren Ford knocked in a go-ahead run in the fourth to give the Grizzlies their second lead of the night, but it evaporated in the top of the fifth when Omaha got after Bucardo for three runs. Omaha never looked back on way to a 10-7 victory that gave them their first series sweep of the season.

Storm Chasers starter Aaron Brooks secured his sixth win of the season despite allowing seven runs (four earned) on seven hits over 5.0 innings. Relievers Casey Coleman and Spencer Patton combined to toss 4.0 scoreless innings.
