FRESNO, Calif. - The Tacoma Rainiers (3-5) dropped their series finale against the Fresno Grizzlies (5-3) by a final score of 5-3 on Thursday night at Chukchansi Park.

Rehabbing right-hander Erasmo Ramirez got the start for Tacoma and worked 4.0 innings. He allowed just one run on three hits while striking out one on 52 pitches (34 strikes).

Center fielder John Andreoli extended his hitting streak to three games with a 3-for-4 performance - he tallied one run, one double, one triple, and two RBI on the night. Andreoli's performance was the only multi-hit outing in the Rainiers lineup.

Fresno took a quick 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first and added two runs in both the fifth and seventh innings to move their advantage out to 5-0.

The Rainiers entered the top of the ninth inning down 5-0, looking to avoid a shutout. They responded with a three-run rally to cut into the Grizzlies lead that fell just short. Catcher Chris Herrmann kicked off the rally with a one-out single to right and was followed by a walk from third baseman Matt Hague. Andreoli broke up the shutout with a two-run triple laced into right field, and shortstop Zach Vincej capped the scoring with an RBI groundout to make it 5-3.

Tacoma continues their road trip with a four-game series against the Sacramento River Cats beginning tomorrow, Friday, April 13. Right-hander Rob Whalen (0-0, 7.71) takes the mound for the Rainiers in the opener against River Cats righty Tyler Herb (0-0, 15.00). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. PT.
