
Grizzlies pitch their way to second straight series win, beat Rainiers 5-3

The Fresno Grizzlies defeated the Tacoma Rainiers in the series finale 5-3 Thursday night from Chukchansi Park. With an earned run average of just below eight, the Fresno staff turned things around to earn a series win over Tacoma. Starter Cy Sneed (1-0) led the way with five stellar innings, allowing three hits, zero runs, two walks and striking out four. Reliever Reymin Guduan added two perfect innings, punching out three and Andrew Thome finished the game with a flyout from Ian Miller.
Fresno started the scoring in the bottom of the first when Tyler White laced a single over the head of Gordon Beckham, letting Tony Kemp trot home. The lead expanded in the bottom of the fifth whenDrew Ferguson (2-for-4) drove a double to left, allowing Garrett Stubbs and Antonio Nunez to score. The final two Grizzlies runs crossed the plate in the seventh thanks to Kyle Tucker and A.J. Reed (3-for-4). Both runs in the seventh were given up by Clovis native Ryan Cook.
Tacoma starter Erasmo Ramirez (0-1) suffered the loss in a rehab start. He tossed four innings, giving up three hits, one run (earned) while punching out one.
Kemp continued his hot bat, extending his hit streak to six games (current team- high) and Ferguson had his second straight multi-RBI game.
The Grizzlies continue their homestand when the Reno Aces visit Chukchansi Park Friday night. Game time is at 7:05 PT. Fresno RHP Francis Martes (0-0, 7.36) and Reno RHP Matt Koch (0-0, 0.00) are the probable pitchers.
