Four Head To Islanders and Four Up From ECHL

BRIDGEPORT, CT - The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, have announced the recall of forwards Jeff Hamilton, Rob Collins, Jeremy Colliton and Wyatt Smith by the big club. The Sound Tigers have also recalled of forwards Mark Lee and Chris Thompson from the ECHL's Trenton Titans and have signed defenseman Jeff State and forward Doug Christiansen of the ECHL's Reading Royals to professional tryout contracts.

Hamilton led the Sound Tigers to a 5-2 home win over the Lowell Lock Monsters Friday with a hat trick and an assist and has posted a team-leading ten goals along with eight assists, 18 points and 12 penalty minutes in 15 AHL games with the Sound Tigers this season. Hamilton has played one career NHL game, skating for the Islanders in December of 2003.

This will be the first trip to the NHL for Collins who leads the Sound Tigers with 19 assists and 26 points and has also posted seven goals and 26 penalty minutes in 27 AHL games this season.

Colliton appeared in his first two NHL games with the Islanders earlier this year and has posted seven goals, 12 assists, 19 points and 28 penalty minutes in 28 AHL games with the Sound Tigers this season.

Smith returns for his third stint with the big club this year. He has one assist and four penalty minutes in six NHL games with the Islanders, as well as eight goals, seven assists, 15 points and 18 penalty minutes in 19 AHL games with the Sound Tigers this season.

Lee and Thompson, who signed AHL contracts this past summer, return for their third recall to the Sound Tigers this year. Lee has appeared in four AHL games with the Sound Tigers and has also posted two goals, three assists, five points and 12 penalty minutes in 12 ECHL games with Trenton this season. Thompson is captain of the Titans and is tied for their team lead with seven goals and also has two assists, nine points and 34 penalty minutes in 19 ECHL games. He has also appeared in five AHL games with the Sound Tigers this year.

This will be the second stint with the Sound Tigers on a PTO for both State and Christiansen. State posted one assist and 12 penalty minutes in three AHL games with the Sound Tigers this season. He also has 64 penalty minutes in 16 ECHL games with Reading this year. Christiansen appeared in one AHL game with the Sound Tigers last season and has nine goals, five assists, 14 points and 54 penalty minutes in 19 ECHL games with the Royals this year.

The Sound Tigers will continue their third straight three-game-in-three-day weekend when they visit the Hartford Wolf Pack tonight at 7 p.m. They will return home to host the Norfolk Admirals tomorrow, Sunday, December 18th, at 4:05 p.m. on "Shelton Town Night" and the annual "Teddy Bear Toss".
