Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
Hershey, PA - The Hamilton Bulldogs three game winning streak came to an end on Saturday night, as they were defeated 4-0 by the Hershey Bears at the Giant Center. The Bulldogs record now stands at 11-18-0-2. It was the third time this season that Hamilton has been shutout, all of which have come on the road.
Hershey opened the scoring with 3:43 left in the first period when Tomas Fleischmann skated down the left side and took a quick shot from the face-off circle that beat Hamilton goaltender Jeff Deslauriers.
The Bears extended their lead to 2-0 with a power-play goal at the 15:33 mark of the second period. Dave Steckel's initial shot was stopped, but Boyd Kane, who was standing in the slot, buried the rebound.
Hershey scored two goals in a span of 23 seconds in the final minute of the middle frame. With the Bears on the power play at 19:23, Lawrence Nycholat snuck in from the point and fired a shot from the high slot past Deslauriers. Jakub Klepis made it 4-0 at 19:38 when he found the net with a backhand shot from the bottom of the face-off circle to the right of the Hamilton goal.
Despite firing 14 shots on goal in the third period, the Bulldogs could not beat Daubenspeck. Hershey had 4 shots in a scoreless final frame.
Bulldogs netminder Deslauriers made 21 saves. Bears goaltender Daubenspeck blocked all 27 shots he faced and was named the game's first star.
Hamilton was 0 for 7 on the power play, while Hershey scored twice on seven opportunities with the man-advantage.
The Bulldogs next action will take place tomorrow evening, Sunday, December 18, when they wrap up their three game road trip by facing the Toronto Marlies at Ricoh Coliseum. Game time is 5:00 p.m.
