Hershey Bears News Release
Goaltender Kirk Daubenspeck earns the first shutout for a BEARS netminder in 2005-06 as the BEARS win 4-0 at GIANT Center Saturday night.
Tomas Fleischmann opened the scoring late in the first period with his eighth goal of the season to give HERSHEY a 1-0 lead after one. The game would stay that way until late in the second period when the BEARS scored three times before intermission. Boyd Kane scored his eighth of the season at 15:33 of the second, Lawrence Nycholat picked up his fifth goal of the year at 19:15 and Jakub Klepis scored his third at 19:38 to put the game on ice. Daubenspeck stopped all 14 shots he saw in the third period to earn his first shutout in a BEARS uniform.
Kane was named the game's number three star, Boyd Gordon was the number two star with Daubenspeck hauling down number one star honors. The BEARS won the club's 19th game of the season and picked up the team's 43rd and 44th points of the season to establish a new franchise record for best start in any season.
HERSHEY will host Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Sunday at 5:00 p.m.
