Orlando Solar Bears News Release
EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Orlando Solar Bears (8-3-1-1), proud affiliate of the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Toronto Marlies, were led by T.J. Foster's hat trick performance en route to a 6-4 win over the Evansville IceMen (3-9-0-0) in front of a crowd of 3,588 on Friday night at the Ford Center.
Eric Faille opened the scoring in the first period when he received a pass from Foster in the slot and slid a backhand shot underneath the pads of Dustin Carlson at 8:03.
Justin MacDonald tied the score for the IceMen at 11:49 when he banked the puck off the leg of Ryan Massa from behind the net.
Foster put Orlando ahead at 12:17 when he wristed a shot from the right circle above the glove of Carlson.
Foster scored again in the second period by shooting from the left circle into the opposite corner of the net at 1:57; the goal would spell the end of Carlson's night as Keegan Asmundson came on in relief at that point for the IceMen.
Daultan Leveille scored at 9:13, while Vincent Dunn scored at 9:51 reinvigorated Evansville, and Tyson Fawcett scored at 14:08 to give the IceMen their first lead of the night, prompting the Solar Bears to replace Massa with Rob Madore.
Orlando recovered in the third period with a power-play goal from Faille at 9:08 to tie the score at 4-4. Johnny McInnis scored at 11:10 for the eventual game-winner before Foster capped the game with an insurance goal for the hat trick by deflecting Carl Nielsen's point shot past Asmundson at 11:25.
Madore picked up the win with 15 saves on 15 shots against in 25:52 of action; Asmundson took the loss with 14 stops on 17 shots against in 35:51.
