Tulsa Oilers News Release

TONIGHT'S MATCHUP

The Oilers are in Allen for the second time this season for the fifth overall meeting with the Americans. Tulsa is 2-2 against Allen in the season series and the Americans earned a 3-2 win in the most recent clash on November 13 at the BOK Center. Over the previous four contests, the Oilers have outscored the Americans 10-9 and each game has been decided by two goals or fewer. The clubs will finish off the weekend with a tilt in Tulsa on Sunday afternoon.

COMEBACK EARNS A POINT

Friday night on home ice, the Oilers overcame a three-goal deficit in the third period but ended up on the wrong side of a 5-4 overtime decision against the Missouri Mavericks. Trailing 4-1 in the final frame, the Oilers scored three times in the span of 11 minutes to force the extra session. Phil Brewer tallied the game-tying goal with 1:32 remaining in regulation but the Oilers remained winless in their last five games (0-3-1-1) thanks to Missouri forward Rocco Carzo who finished off an odd-man rush at 2:37 of overtime to give the Mavs their seventh straight win.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS

Rookie center Christophe Lalancette sparked the Oilers' surge on Friday night with the first goal of his pro career. The 24-year old native of Roberval, Quebec swatted his own rebound past Missouri goalie Josh Robinson at 7:16 of the second period. In the first period, Emerson Clark, who made his Oilers' debut after being traded from Greenville, scored his first goal in Tulsa colors. After a lively bounce off the end boards, Clark jammed a loose puck into the gaping net to tie the contest at 1-1.

OFFENSIVE OUTBURST

Last night against the Mavericks, the Oilers generated four goals in regulation for the first time this season and scored three goals in a single period (third) for the first time this season.

FIGHT CLUB

Forward Brian Nugent dropped the gloves on Friday night to give the Oilers at least one fight in six consecutive games.  Tulsa has been assessed 13 fighting majors through the first 12 contests of the season.

D-CORP DEPTH

The Oilers re-signed defenseman Justin Mansfield prior to Friday's game against Missouri. Mansfield, who appeared in 11 games for the Oilers last season as an amateur, played two games for Tulsa during the first week of this season. A rookie from Arlington, Massachusetts, Mansfield spent four seasons at Merrimack College before beginning his pro career.

DOWN TO THE WIRE

Tulsa's last four games have all been decided by a single goal and the Oilers are 0-2-1-1 in that span. Overall, seven of the Oilers' 12 games this season have been one-goal contests while the other five outings have all been decided by two goals.

OIL DROPS

The Oilers are playing their fourth game in a stretch of eight consecutive games against Central Division opponents...Tulsa is 0-6-1-0 this season when giving up the first goal of the game...Rookie center Dan DeSalvo returned to the lineup last night against Missouri after missing the previous two games...Forward Ben Walker and defenseman Brennan Serville remain on AHL call-up with the Manitoba Moose.
