The first period ended tied at one after Kris Chucko scored for Quad City and Chris Durno recorded a tally for San Antonio in the opening frame. Chucko scored on a breakaway after the rebound from a San Antonio shot escaped the Quad City zone. The second-year Flame forward skated in alone and beat Rampage netminder David Aebisher for his third tally of the season. The Rampage responded 1:24 later when Durno scored during a Flames power play to knot the score at one. It was the sixth shorthanded goal scored his year by the Rampage and the fifth shorthanded goal allowed by Quad City through ten games. In the second period, the Flames seized control of play and took the lead when Adam Pardy sprung Brandon Prust on a breakaway. Prust beat Aebisher for his first goal of the year and the Flames re-captured the lead at 2-1. The Rampage struck twice in the third period to steal the win from the Flames. San Antonio took a 2-0 lead on a pair of first period goals separated by just 14 seconds. Billy Thomas netted his team-leading seventh goal for San Antonio at 15:33 of the opening period. The Flames were able to kill off the 5-on-3 segment of the man advantage, but Germyn's minor carried over to the overtime period.
