
Lightning Assign Center Ryan Craig to Norfolk on Conditioning Stint

NORFOLK, VA - The Tampa Bay Lightning have activated center Ryan Craig off the Injured Reserve list and have assigned him to the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League for conditioning, it was announced by Lightning Executive Vice President & General Manager Jay Feaster. In addition, Admirals General Manager Claude Loiselle announced today that center Justin Taylor has requested a release from his Professional Tryout Contract (PTO).
Craig is scheduled to play Wednesday and Friday for the Admirals before returning to the Lightning on Saturday in Washington. The 6-foot-2, 212-pound native of Abbotsford, British Columbia suffered a herniated disk in his back during the Lightning's first preseason game on September 19 vs. Dallas and was placed on Injured Reserve.
Selected in the eighth round, 255th overall, at the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Craig has appeared in 120 games with the Lightning during the past two seasons, recording 29 goals, 55 points and 61 penalty minutes.
Taylor, a 6-foot-3, 207-pound native of Edmonton, Alberta had earned a professional tryout contract out of Norfolk training camp.
"We were informed this morning by Justin's agent that he has accepted an offer to play in Russia for a substantial amount of money," said Loiselle. "We wish Justin the best."
The Admirals square off against their East Division rivals, the Hershey Bears, on Wednesday and Friday nights at Scope. The puck drops both nights at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday night is College Night with $8 White Level Tickets and discounted food at Baxter's Sports Lounge available for students with a valid current college ID. The Admirals wives and girlfriends will be collecting Thanksgiving food items next Wednesday and Friday at Scope for the "Admirals Thanksgiving Basket Drive ForKids. The food drive will benefit the local ForKids organization. The Admirals hope to collect enough food to feed 20 families this Thanksgiving and need your help to reach that goal. Look for the Admirals wives and girlfriends near Gate 3-4 on Wednesday and Friday Night at Scope when the Admirals take on the Hershey Bears.
