Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

NEED TO KNOW: The Reno Aces (2-1) used plenty of clutch hitting to score five two-out runs in their 7-3 victory against the Albuquerque Isotopes (1-2). The Topes will try to split the four-game series Sunday afternoon at 1:35 p.m.

DECIDING MOMENT: Albuquerque jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead with a trio of runs in the bottom of the second. Reno responded with a pair in the top of the third courtesy of a Danny Dorn triple. It wasn't until two outs in the top of the fifth that the Aces came alive. Isotopes pitcher Chad Bettis left a 3-2 slider up in the zone, and Nick Evans deposited it over the left field wall for a two-run, go-ahead home run. Reno would go on to score two more runs courtesy of six straight two-out hits.

CATEEL'S DEBUT: Catcher Ryan Casteel made his Triple-A debut Saturday night and notched an RBI single in his first at-bat. He tacked on two more singles before the end of the evening and finished 3-for-4 with an RBI. The 23-year-old prospect hit .280, including 16 homers, 22 doubles and 56 RBI, with Double-A Tulsa in 2014.

TWO-OUT MOMENTUM: Reno didn't lack any clutch hitting Saturday night, scoring five runs with two outs. The Aces connected for six consecutive two-out base hits in the top of the fifth, including two doubles and a homer, to score four runs. The two-out magic returned in the eighth when Evan Marzilli tripled with one out and later scored on a Danny Dorn two-out single.

NINA KEEPS HITTING: Angelys Nina was the star of Friday night's 10-inning Isotopes win with his walk off single. The 23-year-old infielder kept it going Saturday with an RBI single in the second inning. He would later come around to score on Ryan Casteel's base knock. He finished the game 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

ON DECK: The Isotopes and Aces will play the finale of their four-game series Sunday afternoon at 1:35 p.m. Left-hander Chris Rusin will make his first start in an Isotopes uniform, while the Aces will go with righty Allen Webster.

IN THE HOLE: After wrapping up this four-game series against Reno, Albuquerque will welcome the Tacoma Rainiers to town to close out the season-opening eight-game homestand.
