Salt Lake Bees News Release

Jarrett Parker's grand slam in the bottom of the 18th inning gave the Sacramento River Cats a 6-5 win over the Salt Lake Bees on Saturday night. The Bees broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the 18th on a leadoff homer by Carlos Perez and a two run double by Alfredo Marte, but Salt Lake ran out of pitchers and catcher Charlie Cutler made his professional pitching debut in the bottom of the 18th. Carlos Triunfel led off with a double and Guillermo Quiroz walked. One out later, Adam Duvall walked to load the bases before Parker launched a 1-0 pitch from Cutler into the right field bullpen to end the game.

The eighteen innings sets a Salt Lake franchise record for the longest game by innings. Bees' pitchers fanned 22 River Cats, which also set a franchise record. Marte led the Bees with a pair of doubles and three runs batted in, while Perez added three hits and one RBI. Salt Lake starter Nick Tropeano went six innings and allowed two runs on three hits with seven strikeouts and no walks.

The Bees will play their home opener at Smith's Ballpark on Friday, April 17 at 6:35 p.m. with a fireworks show postgame. Tickets and additional information is available at www.slbees.com.
