Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

Right-handed pitcher Leuris Gomez joined the Isotopes today, and righty Scott Oberg had his contract purchased by the Colorado Rockies. Gomez will wear No. 36.

Gomez is beginning his 10th season in the Rockies organization but seventh as a pitcher after converting from an infielder in 2009. He owns a career 22-17 record with a 4.31 ERA in the Minors, including a 2-2 mark and 4.47 ERA with Triple-A Colorado Springs a year ago.

Oberg appeared in Friday night's game for Albuquerque, tossing one inning. He allowed three singles but escaped a bases loaded jam with back-to-back strikeouts to end the frame. This is his first promotion to the Major Leagues.

The Isotopes (1-2) take on the Reno Aces (2-1) this afternoon at 1:35 p.m. in the finale of their four-game series. The Topes will try to split the series with lefty Chris Rusin on the mound, while the Aces will send righty Allen Webster.
