
Five Renegades Named to 2015 New York-Penn League All-Star Game

FISHKILL, NY-- The New York-Penn League office announced the rosters for the 2015 New York-Penn League All-Star Game and will feature Hudson Valley Renegades infielder Jake Cronenworth, outfielders Cade Gotta and Joe McCarthy along with pitchers Roel Ramirez and Angel Yepez. All five Renegades players will represent the North Team on Tuesday, August 18th, with the contest behind played at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen, M.D., home of the Aberdeen Ironbirds.
Cronenworth, a 2015 seventh round draft pick by the Tampa Bay Rays out of the University of Michigan, came into the weekend of August 8th leading the New York-Penn League in On-Base percentage (.443) and tied for fifth in batting average with a .322 mark, along with one home run and 12 RBI. He also ranks in the league's top-10 with hits (46) and walks (26).
Gotta leads the Renegades in games played with 40 coming into this past weekend as is second in the New York-Penn League in doubles (13) and in the top-10 in stolen bases with 12. The San Diego, California native came into the August 8th weekend hitting .297 with 15 RBI and a .400 Slugging percentage
McCarthy, who earlier in 2015 helped the University of Virginia win the College World Series, has settled in nicely during his rookie professional season. He came into the August 8th weekend with a .252 average with 10 RBI and is tied for third on the team in stolen bases with nine.
Ramirez has been a standout on the Renegades pitching staff in 2015 as he currently ranks third in the New York-Penn League in ERA (2.22). He has a record of 3-1 in eight starts and has struck out 28 batters while walking just nine.
Yepez comes into the August 8th weekend tied for fifth in the New York-Penn League in wins (4) and has been a durable starter for the Renegades. In eight starts, the Barinas, Venezuela native posts a 2.85 ERA and has struck out 35 batters while issuing seven walks.
The North Team will be comprised of players representing the Renegades along with the Auburn Doubledays, Batavia Muckdogs, Connecticut Tigers, Lowell Spinners, Tri-City ValleyCats and the Vermont Lake Monsters.
