Fresno Falcons News Release
Boise, Idaho - John Morlang tallied three points, and Scott Stirling made 33 saves, leading the Fresno Falcons to a 3-1 win over the Idaho Steelheads on Friday night at Qwest Arena. With the win, Fresno moves to within four points of Idaho for fourth place in the National Conference.
The Falcons drew first blood 7:33 into the first period. Morlang skated across the Idaho blue line, and hit a streaking Luke Curtin down the left-wing side. Curtin redirected the puck past Steve Silverthorn for his 18th goal of the season.
Less than two minutes later, the Falcons doubled their lead with a power-play goal. Morlang fed a drop pass for John Wroblewski in the high slot, and he one-timed a shot past Silverthorn for his 17th of the year giving Fresno a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes of play.
Idaho cut Fresno's lead in half 8:32 into the second period as Alexander Naurov slid a rebound past Stirling on the far post for his first goal of the season.
Morlang scored into an empty net with one second left to set the final.
