Pensacola Ice Pilots News Release

The Pensacola Ice Pilots surrendered the first four goals of the game and dropped a tough 7-2 decision to the Florida Everblades on Friday night at Germain Arena in Estero Florida.

The Everblades won their 37th of the season and 19th on home ice while the Ice pilots dropped their 38th of the year and 23 on the road.

The Ice Pilots didn't' have an answer for the Everblades attack that capitalized on miscues inside the Blue and Gold's zone. Florida goaltender Craig Kowalski stopped 36 of 38 shots he faced. Michael Mole took the loss in net for Pensacola.

The Florida Everblades came out strong in the opening period and scored goals at the beginning, middle and end of the stanza to make it 3-0 despite the Ice Pilots having the shot advantage 17-14.

The best chance for the Ice Pilots came when Torry Gadja shot was fired over top of the net.

In the second period after Florida made it 4-0 the Ice Pilots would tally the next two as Dan Sullivan scored on a great work effort by Jesse Baraniuk who put the puck in front of the net for Sullivan. Nikita Korovkin scored shorthanded 2:02 later to get the deficit to two. Korovkin's shot was mishandled by the Everblades defenseman and goaltender and found its way into the net.

Florida would add another goal late in the second to make it 5-2 and then two more in the third. The Everblades have scored 14 goals in their last two games including seven in Gwinnett on Tuesday night.
