Falcons Complete Trade with Inferno
November 28, 2007 - ECHL (ECHL)
Fresno Falcons News Release
Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons announced today that the team has acquired defenseman Bryan Rodney and right wing Matt Stefanishon from the Columbia Inferno in exchange for defenseman Dan Glover and right wing Brett Hemingway.
Rodney is in his third pro season, most of which has been spent in the ECHL. In 121 games with Columbia and Charlotte, the 23-year-old has 11 goals and 60 assists for 71 points. He also has appeared in eight AHL games with the Hartford Wolf Pack, tallying three points. During a five-year junior career in the OHL, Rodney tallied 47 goals and added 187 assists for 234 points. He scored a career-high 23 goals with London in 2004-05.
The 24-year-old Stefanishion is in his second pro season. Last year, he scored 16 goals and added 24 assists, while adding 90 penalty minutes, in 90 games with the South Carolina Stingrays, while also skating in three games with the AHL's Hershey Bears. During a two-year career at Ferris State University, Stefanishion had 21 goals and 13 assists for 34 points in 57 games.
"We needed to improve our team in a few areas," Falcons Head Coach and General Manager Matt Thomas said. "Bryan Rodney gives us an element that our power play is lacking. He's a player who will make a difference for us.
"Matt Stefanishion gives us an experienced player who will add size to our forward lines," Thomas said. "He's a force in the offensive zone, and he should help create space for some of our smaller forwards."
Glover appeared in seven games with the Falcons this season, notching two assists, while Hemingway tallied four goals and added three assists in 14 games.
The Falcons return to action on Friday, hosting the Bakersfield Condors at 7:30 p.m. It's the eighth annual Teddy Bear Toss presented by Gottschalk's. All fans are asked to bring a new teddy bear or stuffed animal to the game and toss it on the ice after the Falcons score their first goal. All toys collected will benefit Toys for Tots.
Tickets for all Falcons home games can be purchased at the Save Mart Center Box Office, or through TicketMaster at (559) 485-8497 or www.ticketmaster.com. All Falcons' games are broadcast on 790 ESPN Radio, The Deuce, starting 15 minutes prior to face-off with the Port of Subs Pre-Game Show.
